EASC RPAS test and research center at the airfield in Schönhagen (EDAZ)

(RPAS - Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems)

Testflight with RPAS are conducted since 2011 at the airfield in Schönhagen. Research organizations, universities, RPAS manufacturers and operators test their products, projects and applications on a regular basis. The infrastructure at EDAZ- Technology Park offers various possibilities for scientific and commercial activities, for workshops or venues for conferences.

Multiple opportunities for RPAS- test flights are at the airfield and its vicinity. Applicants and operators are supported in the process of regulation and permission from the authorities. The test-center offers several flight boxes and restricted airspaces for normal and experimental operations. The facilities also provide an environment for noise abatement certificates and expertise on privacy impact assessment.

  • testing and assessment of RPAS in agriculture: pest control, fertilization, soil and plant management
  • RPAS use in disaster relief and civil protection
  • regulatory aspects of the integration of RPAS in controlled and uncontrolled airspace
  • RPAS related research regarding accountability, liability and data protection
